"Reflections"
I call this tray Reflections because the bottom piece was made extra long and cut so it could extend up the ends of the tray. This technique makes it look like the ends are a reflection of the bottom.
Use this tray for a variety of purposes - a coffee table tray or ottoman tray or simply a decorative piece just as it is. Completely handmade using dado and rabbit joints. No nails, screws or other fasteners were used in the assembly.
Hand Applied Finish for a Oil Rubbed Look
After assembly and sanding, a hand rubbed Danish Oil was applied followed by Johnson furniture wax. The Danish Oil is a great selection for a finish. When dry it maintains that hand rubbed oil look and at the same time it provides great protection. Simply wipe down occasionally with a soft rag with a light spray of non-glossy furniture polish or wood protector or furniture wax.
